About Fairways
Fairways is owned and run by a local family business since 2014 with several family members involved in the day to day running of the home. Living locally is an advantage to be near the site and available to respond quickly to the needs of the home.
Our aims are to provide care and support to our residents in a ‘home from home’ environment. We are fully committed to providing our services in a way that maintains individual choice, dignity and independence. Communication with compassion underpin our values to provide the best service possible.
Fairways is situated on the outskirts of Workington next to the golf course, within easy travelling distance of Workington, Whitehaven and Cockermouth. The local bus service stops outside.
The home has 57 rooms all of which have en-suite facilities. The rooms all have a pleasant outlook; there are extensive views towards the Solway Coast and the Western Lake District.
The focal point of the communal space is Eileen’s Bar where all our residents can come together to enjoy gatherings and entertainment. We have extensive communal areas where residents and their families can relax and enjoy time together including our relaxation lounge The Eden Room.
Externally, we have a large, enclosed courtyard with covered areas for sun protection, secure patio, extensive lawns and other outside space to enjoy. For the keen gardeners, we have a spacious potting shed which is enjoyed by our resident gardening club. There is also plenty of on-site parking for visitors.
Our Team
We have a Registered Manager and team of care and support staff.
Choosing the right people who share our values is essential. We take great care when interviewing staff to check that they have the right attitude. We encourage residents to be on our interview panel where possible, to help us to select the best person to join the team.
The fact that many of our team members have worked for the company for over 10 years, reflects the extent to which they enjoy their work. Their commitment allows us to provide our residents with real continuity in their day to day care and support.
All our team take part in ongoing training to help them to increase and update their skills and knowledge.
